Learn a little sumthin’-sumthin’ about what’s in your glass, or deepen your wine knowledge in our monthly classes.  All sessions include 6 tastings, cheese and charcuterie.  Choose your course:  the recreational World of Wine or the more intensive Production Series.

Production Series

These classes are for people with a serious interest in wine. They will focus on the vinification process, along with winemaking options and the results from the different techniques.

$60 per class or all 4 seminars for $220

World of Wine: Wine and Chocolate Pairing

Chocolate and wine pairings are more versatile than one might think.  In this class, we’ll explore how the various flavors play together in unexpected ways.

February 24, 7 - 8:30pm

Production Seminar: White Wines

Learn about the overall production process, from the work in the vineyard to the crush to fermentation to maturation. We’ll review strategies a winemaker can use to craft the style of wine she wants as well as discuss key grape varietals.

March 23, 7-8:30pm

Production Seminar: Red Wines

In addition to the full production process, we’ll discuss aging techniques, such as oak usage and vessels, as well as the use of varietals, from single-varietal to blends.  The complexities in creating quality red wines are endless!

April 20, 7 - 8:30pm

Production Seminar: Rose and Orange Wines

Nope, these wines are not made from oranges (or roses, for that matter).  Learn about these “sisters in between” whites and reds, how they’re produced and their similarities/differences from classic white and reds.

May 18, 7- 8:30pm

Production Seminar: Sparkling Wines

In the final seminar, we’ll take a close look at sparkling wines.  Bubbly has a fascinating history and sets the stage for the festive drink we sip today.  We’ll review different techniques for creating sparkling wines, the best grapes for the job and debunk common myths.

Join winemakers from across the state for a lively discussion about the past, present and future of New York wines. NY producers have been garnering accolades in recent years for their bottlings; how did they get their start what’s next for these wineries?
